What's a CV?
CV is short for Curriculum Vitae. This is Latin for your life story, or in this case the story of your professional life or career. While the terms resume and CV can be used interchangeably, CVs can be a bit longer and more detailed. Here is a link to the definition of CV on Wikipedia.
Why should I have a cover letter?
A cover letter summarizes your experience from your resume to make it easy for the hiring manager to see your qualifications and how they match the job opening.
Often resumes that do not have cover letters are not even considered. That means that if you have a professional well-written cover letter, HR will put your resume at the front of the line! CV Professionals considers cover letters an important part of your job application.

Why should I pay for a resume service?
You hire a pro-painter to paint your house or or a pro-mechanic to fix your car, don't you? Why is your resume any different? A resume or CV pro can do a better job and and be more objective than you. Not to mention, a properly written resume can land you a job that pays you $1,000s more than your previous job. Name one roofer who can do that for you!

How can I pay for my resume services?
At CV Professionals payments are easy. We accept
- Cash
- Money order made out to CV Professionals
- Credit card in person, by fax, or over the phone
- Payments made through a PayPal account
We accept:  CV Professionals does not accept checks.
What electronic file formats does CV Professionals use?
We use the 5 most common file formats in use today. These are included as part of your CV Professionals resume package. You can order a CD with your files on it as well, if you are not getting the In-depth resume package.
The file types your resume will be saved in include: Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat PDF, Open Office, HTML, and plain text. We can also provide WordPerfect files on request.
What will I receive in my resume package?
At CV Professionals we do our best to meet your needs. To this end, we have 2 resume packages - Basic and In-depth.
The Basic resume package is purely electronic. It includes:
- a re-write of your existing resume based on an emailed questionnaire
- your new resume emailed to you in the 5 most common electronic file formats
- printed copies of your resume will cost extra
The In-depth resume package is a more complete package. It includes:
- our signature in-depth interview process to uncover details about your job history
- a re-write of your resume based on the details from the interview
- your completed resume in the 5 most common electronic file formats on CD
- 10 laser printed copies of your resume on high quality paper in an economy portfolio
You can add additional services to either of these packages as needed. Our additional services include cover letters, thank you letters, additional printed resumes, files on CD, additional folders, and premium portfolios. These are all covered on our services page.
Does CV Professionals provide other career services besides resumes?
At this time our services are limited to resumes, cover letters, and thank you letters.
What is the CV Professionals process for your In-depth resume package?
The CV Professionals process is straightforward. It has only 5 steps - Contact, In-depth interview, Writing, Assembly, and Final Hand-off.
1. Contact - We contact you to set up a date and time for the in-depth interview, and to get a copy of your existing resume. At this time you select one of our resume service packages and any extras.
2. In-depth interview - Our signature is an in-depth interview process designed to unveil details about your job history. Most other resume services will miss these details. These details ensure an accurate resume that fully accounts for all of your accomplishments. (Note: This step is not part of the Basic Resume package.)
3. Writing - Our professional writers use details from the interview and your old resume while selecting the proper format for your resume.Once the first draft is complete, we will check with you to ensure there are no errors or omissions.
4. Assembly - Our production team produces high quality laser printed copies of your resume, as well as electronic copies, and assembles them into your own folder or portfolio.
5. Final hand-off - We contact you to present you with your completed resume package, and receive the balance of your account.
Please note that if needed a second version can be completed between steps 4 & 5.
How much time will this process take? How long before I get my finished resume?
From start to finish, if you are available promptly for the in-depth interview, the whole process will be completed within 5 business days.
What if I am not happy with my completed resume?
CV Professionals works with you throughout the process to provide you with a high quality resume that is professionally designed and written for your specific situation. We will do our best, within reason, to ensure you are happy with your new resume. This may include making some changes if you aren't happy with the first version.
After your initial resume package has been completed, CV Professionals will gladly work with you to keep your resume up to date.
Does CV Professionals offer a guarantee that I will get hired?
CV Professionals does NOT guarantee you a job.
Our clients have an extremely high rate of success in finding jobs - to date 95% of our clients have jobs within 6 months of receiving their completed resumes, many of those find a job within a couple weeks.
However, in spite of this record we will not guarantee you a job. An excellent resume does not guarantee your interviews will succeed, or that other parts of your job search are being properly completed.
At CV Professionals, we stand behind our work. If you do not have a job in 6 months, we will take a look at your resume again and also your overall job search. If you need a resume rewrite, we will work it out with you.
What if I need more copies of my resume, cover letters, or other resume items?
The services page lists the price of additional printed copies of your resume - both initially and at a future date. If you can't find the price listed for what you need, we can help you if you contact us.
I need a new resume and cover letter for each job I apply to. Do you have any deals for repeat customers?
While every job seeker should change their resume for each position they apply for, this is even more true in the public service. The Ottawa Region in particular has many federal government employees with the public service. When applying to internal job postings, you can send your resume directly to the hiring manager and you need to include a cover letter with it. Your resume and cover letter will change for each job you apply to.
At CV Pros we have a repeat customer package that takes into account that we already have your resume on file, and each rewrite after that will require less than starting from scratch. Please contact our admin for our latest repeat customer pricing.
How do I get started?
You can either go to the services page to see our price list and select your resume package. You can pay for it online, or contact us via email or phone. To start, we will need your old resume and we'll need you to answer some simple questions either via email or over the phone.
